Sandpit sun sail / Sandpit cover

Sun sail for the sandbox – versatile and functional

Forget conventional sandbox covers – our sandbox shade sails not only protect against outside contamination, but also serve as a source of shade at the same time.

How to prevent garbage, leaves and other debris from getting into the sandbox while also providing effective sun protection for the sandbox. Our fabrics are UV-stable and available in various shading levels. Thanks to a special coating with which the sail can be treated upon request, the sandbox sun shade is waterproof and thus also protects against precipitation. At the same time, the sandbox cover is air-permeable – this prevents the formation of mold.

WeatherMAX 80 - the top material for sun and rain protection (waterproof)

WeatherMAX® made from yarn-dyed Satura maxTM fibers. This yarn is a technical polymer featuring exceptional UV-resistant properties for long-lasting colorfastness and strength. The commonly used term „waterproof“ is to be understood as rain protection or rain-repellent.

hydroMAX Finish increases the water column and thereby enables outstanding results in water and mold resistance without, however, reducing the breathability of the fiber.

WeatherMAX® is characterized by very high tear resistance and kink resistance.

Your benefits with our sandbox covers

Shade for sensitive children's skin

Children often lose track of time while digging. Our sails take over the responsibility and create a reliable protection zone that blocks dangerous direct radiation. This way, the sandbox remains a safe place for little explorers even in the dead of summer.

Effective barrier against dirt

A shade sail offers more than just shade. It serves as a protective canopy against contamination by birds or falling leaves. Especially in private gardens, the play sand thus remains hygienically pristine and invitingly clean for significantly longer.

Heat wave shutdown in the sandbox

Sand can get extremely hot in direct sunlight. Thanks to the high shading factor of our fabrics, we prevent the play area from turning into a heat trap. The result: A comfortably cool retreat that invites hours of creative play.

Durable garden investment

Our sandbox solutions are engineered to be robust enough to last through entire childhoods. Thanks to height-adjustable poles, the canopy can be flexibly adjusted—today as sun protection over the sand, tomorrow as a cool chill-out zone for schoolchildren.

Important criteria when buying a sandbox sun protection

Anyone who wants to buy a shade sail for the sandbox should pay attention to two essential factors:

  • Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF): A good sail should block at least 90 % of UV rays.
  • Material texture: A distinction is made between waterproof fabrics (perfect as rain protection) and air-permeable HDPE fabric. The latter prevents heat buildup under the sail, which ensures a pleasant climate, especially during long periods of playing in the sandbox.

Light locking mechanism

The principle is extremely simple: the sun sail made of durable fabric is tensioned between poles made of aluminum or stainless steel. Handles on the sides make it easy to manually adjust the sun sail higher or lower. This ensures, on the one hand, that the shade always covers the sandbox area and, on the other hand, allows for a quick switch between the functions of sun protection and sandbox cover. If the sun sail for the sandbox is to serve as rain protection, it is recommended to tension the fabric with a slight downward slope, thereby diverting the rainwater to the most suitable location.

Sandpit sun sail: Optimal UV protection for little explorers

When the sun is at its highest in the summer, there is nothing children love more than digging in the sand and building castles. However, children's sensitive skin in particular needs reliable protection from dangerous UV radiation while in the sandbox. A high-quality sun sail is the ideal solution here to combine functionality with modern design.

Why a shade sail is the better choice

Compared to conventional parasols, a permanently installed or flexible sun shade sail offers a significantly larger shaded area. Since the position of the sun changes throughout the day, modern sail models can often be adjusted in height or angle. This ensures that the sandbox remains completely in the shade even in the afternoon. In addition, there are no annoying umbrella stands in the way, which minimizes the risk of injury while playing.

FAQs about our sandbox covers

What color for my shade sail?

We manufacture your shade sail not only in any desired shape, but also in your color of choice. If you want to install a shade sail on your balcony, you are free to base your design on the color of the facade, the roof, or the balcony cladding. However, please note that the chosen color can also affect the light transmission of the sail. If you are unsure which shade sail is right for you, we are happy to advise you.

How is a balcony sun shade sail attached?

If a sun sail is installed over a balcony, we generally attach it to the house facade. Depending on the size of the balcony, a freestanding sun sail may also be an option. Installation highlights the greatest advantage of a sun sail over a traditional parasol: our sun sails do not require a bulky base that would take up valuable space. Furthermore, the size and shape of the sun sail can be customized to fit the balcony. To allow any rainwater to run off, a sun sail is installed at an angle.
